Granlund offers energy calculation services for new, renovated and existing buildings

The energy calculation services include energy reviews, energy certificates, determining energy consumption targets, energy calculations required by environmental organizations which award classifications as well as comparative calculations for design solutions.

Due to the new tighter energy regulations, new buildings require an overall energy consumption review, definition of the purchased energy consumption as well as the use of energy type coefficients, i.e. calculating the energy rating. All new buildings must be nearly zero-energy buildings by 2021. Therefore the role of energy calculations will become more significant when designing buildings and the importance of collaboration between designers will increase.

Granlund's energy calculation services for new buildings include building permit related energy evaluations which calculate, for example, the buildings' total and purchased energy consumption, energy rating and heat loss as well as the heating and cooling efficiency.  Other energy calculation services for new buildings include energy consumption target calculations for maintenance purposes, energy calculations required by environmental organizations which award classifications as well as regional energy reviews. Granlund's services also include energy certificates.

The energy calculation services Granlund offers for existing and also new buildings include defining a project's energy targets, comparative calculations for different HVAC design solutions and energy efficiency cost calculations throughout the life cycle of the project. Granlund conducts reviews of self-sufficient renewable energy production systems and energy production methods. Granlund also undertakes reviews related to processes that use energy as well as energy saving scenarios.

We use the RIUSKA™ software to complete our energy calculations. It is a dynamic comfort and energy simulation application developed by Granlund. RIUSKA™ uses a building information model (BIM) to calculate the thermal behavior of a building and its spaces in different loading and weather conditions.
